It says "Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also,
check that the file name is not too long.

I don't see how either of those could be a possiblity. I get this whether I'm
testing the file or publishing it.

Anyone have an idea what's going on?

I'm having the same exact problem. My set up: Mac with CS3 files on a network
drive, open and save the .fla but the .swf fails to publish with the same
error. I also have Flash 8 installed and can do the same exact task (open on
and publish to a network drive).

I hate to jump and say its a bug, but lets be honest, CS3 save dialog on a Mac
is obviously buggy to begin with so I doubt this is just another "quirk".

It's not just Mac, I'm also having the same problem in Windows. CS3 and CF8
both running on the same machine. After I use DW to preview my site in the
browser, then making changes in Flash and attempting to republish or preview in
browser again, I get the same error. If you try to modify or delete the SWF
file Windows won't allow it. It's like CF is keeping the SWF file open after
closing the browser?

I am only able to free up the SWF by restarting the CF8 Application Server
service.

A real pain in the butt!!

I found it on Adobe.com in the community forum.
The solve resides in the dialog box in "Publish Settings" in the
"File" menu.

Pop it open and choose "Format"
The path in the (.swf)-text field was incorrect.
Either change the current path to a correct one or press the "Use
Defaut Names" button and the problems should be solved.

Thanks to Ali!
